Fall is Perfect for Senior Portraits

When Should I take my Senior Portraits?  That’s a question we get every day.  Our answer, other than NOW, is a function of the style and personality you want your portraits to take on.  Our personal favorite as far as a “when” is in FALL.  The LONG fading light in the afternoons is better than any time of year, and we generally are without unexpected storms or wind.  Either way, if you are in Dallas, Arlington, Mansfield, Midlothian or Waxahachie and you are looking for Senior Portraits that are fun, innovative, fashionable and creative, please consider Ivey Photography.

High School Senior Portraits – Red Oak, Midlothian, Waxahachie, Mansfield

We’ve had so many seniors this past month, we’ve almost lost count.  We wanted to share a few of our favorite images from this past senior season.  Most are VERY recent, and a couple are hold overs from the Fall.  There is still time to have your Senior Portraits made, and in our opinion, this is the best month to do it in.  Give us a call and we’ll get you on the schedule.

Maypearl High School Senior Portraits: Ashley

Midlothian High School Senior Portraits: Sam

Samantha is a Senior at Midlothian High School.  She’s had this red dress stashed away waiting for the right moment to take some of her senior portraits in it.  The other night, we got the most fabulous sunset, so we made use of the dress, and the sunset.

Cedar Hill High School Senior Portrait: David

David is the kicker for the Cedar Hill High School Football Team, and also plays goal keeper for the soccer team.  He came in recently for his Senior Portrait Session.  Here are a couple of our favorite photographs with David.

Midlothian High School Senior Portraits: Samantha

Samantha is on the yearbook and newspaper staffs at Midlothian High School.  She loves photography, and is a passionate and talented photographer.  She is the first student we’ve selected to fill our internship at the studio.  Not only is she talented, she’s also photogenic.  Sam is on our Model Rep Crew, and we are so excited to share her images with you.  We started in the studio and did some classic lighting to create the vintage camera photos.  Then we moved out into Midlothian and shot the outdoor work.  We wrapped up at our private creek location for her ‘Trash the Dress’ session.  We caught the light perfectly and we’re thrilled with how the images turned out.  Here are some of our favorites!

Midlothian High School Senior Portraits – Ashley

Ashley is a soccer star at Midlothian High School, and came to Ivey Photography for her Senior Portraits.  Ashley is on our Model Rep Crew, and will have lots of goodies to pass out to her friends this year, too!  If you know her, be really nice, and she’ll set you up with free stuff from us!  Here are a few of our favorite photos from her sessions.

Midlothian High School Senior Portraits – Cynthia

Cynthia came in last week for her senior portraits and did our Full Session.  She brought in some great clothes, a TON of cool shoes and designer bags, and then topped it all off with our Trash the Dress session.  Here are a few of her images.  All of these images were made in and around Midlothian.  If you think we just live in a “small town” with “nothing going on”, you’re wrong.  We make amazing images here in places you would never suspect.  Book your senior portraits with us and we’ll show you some of our secrets.

Custom High School Graduation Announcements

Although we are known for our photography, we are slowly becoming known for what we DO with our photography. Take a look at these custom, one-of-a-kind high school graduation announcements. We created these pieces for several of our graduating seniors this past year. We take the great images from their session, combine it with a style that suits them and print a graduation announcement. They are available in 5×7 standard greeting card sizes, and we offer a flat version and a folded version. The folded version usually has a full sized 5×7 portrait on the back, so instead of sending a wallet in your announcement, why not send an actual photo your relatives and friends can frame. If you are a graduating senior in 2010, you probably already have this done, but for the class of 2011, avoid the high priced “vanilla” option that you are offered at school and let Ivey Photography create a graduation announcement to remember.

Jesuit Prep School Senior Portraits: Alonzo

Alonzo is a Senior at Jesuit Pre School in Dallas.  He is a superstar corner back on the football team and will be attending college on a football scholarship.  He came in for a mini session with us for his Senior Portraits.  We worked quickly and got some great studio and outdoor light portraits.  Notice the cap and gown photo below, and how nice it is.  Alonzo’s mom commented that the main reason she found us online was because we still offer a very nice cap and gown photo.  Its a relaxed atmosphere, and for that reason, our cap and gown photos always seem to come out better than the ones students take at schools.

Bishop Dunne High School Senior Portraits: Raven

Raven came in for a mini session recently and we LOOOOVE her photos. She is a Senior at Bishop Dunne High School in Dallas. She has a great smile, and the camera loved her. Our processing lab loved her so much, they chose one of her images to display to other photographers at the largest Photography education seminar in the country!! We are VERY proud, and Raven’s mom was overjoyed when we asked her to sign the model release!! Here are some of the great images from Raven’s 20 minute session.

Red Oak High School Senior: Ryan

Ryan came in from Red Oak recently for his Senior portraits. He’s a videographer, so we had a lot in common and talked “shop” most of the time. We’re going to have him video some of our 2011 Modeling Sessions this summer, that is, if he isn’t some high powered TV Exec by then. Here are a few of our favorites from his studio and location session.

Teague High School Senior Portraits: Megan

Megan is a Senior at Teague High School. She made the long drive up recently and we had a great shoot. Her photos are some of my favorites of the season. We are currently looking for models for the Class of 2011. If you are a Junior, and will be a senior, or you know someone who will be, please have them visit this link.

Waxahachie High School Senior Portraits: Hannah

Hannah is a volleyball star at Waxahachie High School. She drives a killer truck and listens to cool Texas bands. We had a good time working together on her Senior portraits. Here are a few of my favorites. We still have a few spots open for last minute seniors. If you need wallets for grad announcements, you need to have your portraits completed by May 15th to avoid any rush fees.

Policy Changes, Pricing, Minimum Orders: Effective 2012

Effective May 1st, we will have some changes to our pricing policies.  Until then, our $25 reservation fee and minimum order policies are in effect.  On January 15, our pricing structure will change.

Pricing
For our standard family, children’s, maternity and engagement sessions, we no longer have “packages”.  We experimented with packages, or Collections for about a year, and decided that we are not a “package” studio.  We create custom products for your home.  Sometimes you can call it a “package”, but most of the time, its just what you want.  We do offer bonus incentives and discounts for larger orders, but you can expect custom creations and products designed for YOU, not Packages designed to sell you “stuff you don’t need”.  We’ve also lowered some prices on Wall Portraits and Custom Albums.  As always, print prices start at about $50.

Order Deposit
For MOST of our sessions, we require an order deposit at the time of your session.  This means you will pay money to be used during your ordering session.  We look at this like a “security deposit” from you.  We are happy to photograph just about any time, anywhere, but we can’t afford for clients to take advantage of our time and not place an appropriate order with us for their portraits.  Of course, if you don’t like your portraits, or are not happy with our service for any reason, your deposit and session fee are refundable.  The order deposit varies from $150-$500, and generally sets an expectation for you on what to anticipate starting your order with.  We will never tell you how much to spend, but we do want you to be aware of what is possible, and the order deposit will at least get you started.

Session Fees
Family, Engagement, or Maternity Photography:  Our new Session Fee is $75 for weekday appointments and $125 for weekend appointments.  There is no minimum order and we’ll work with you to design products that are best for your home.  Print prices begin at around $50, with sizes available up to 70×100 inches.

Children and Baby Photography:  Our Session Fee is $75 on the weekdays and $125 on the weekends.  There are no minimum orders, so buy what you like.  We do have minimum order requirements for our seasonal and discount programs.  Please ask for details on those special sessions.

Senior Photography:  Effective for the Class of 2012 Sessions, we will offer three session types.  The Mini, The Half, and The Full Session.  Our mini sessions require an $195 minimum order.  Our Half Session requires a $300 minimum order, and our Full Sessions require a $500 minimum order.  What you ultimately spend depends on the length of your session, the number of outfits, and the products you choose.  Call us for a complete consultation and we can give you a complete price guide.  The minimum orders for Seniors are not designed to tell you how much to spend, rather to direct you into a session that is appropriate for you and your budget.  You can spend ANY amount, no matter the length of the session, but you must spend more for the longer, more elaborate sessions.

Consultation
For each session, we will now ask that you give us a few minutes of your time PRIOR to the session so that we may consult with you in detail about your session, the products you may want, and the spaces we may fill with your images.  We can conduct the consultation in your home, here in the studio, or by phone.  It just takes a minute of your time, but goes a LONG way toward helping us deliver our very best work to you.

We never enjoy discussing business on our site, but we feel it is important to announce these changes.  Our new pricing structure allows us to be more of a custom art studio, rather than a “package” studio.  We design custom products for your home using priceless images we create.  Sometimes that costs a little, other times that costs more.  Our minimum order policy was hampering us and causing confusion for some clients.  With every rule, there is the exception.  Our Senior Sessions, Watch Me Grow Sessions, and Seasonal Mini Sessions will still carry appropriate minimum order requirements.

We appreciate all of the business and look forward to capturing memories for you very soon.

Thanks
Ivey Photography

Midlothian High School Senior Portraits – Sterling

Sterling came in last week for his senior portraits. He’s a baseball player, formerly a good pitching prospect, until an elbow injury last season took him off the mound. He’s working hard to come back this season and contribute to the MHS Baseball team in other ways. He has a great spirit, some crazy green eyes, and a really cool truck ! Check out a few of our favorites.

Clifton High School Senior Portraits – Mesha

Mesha is a Senior from Clifton High School. We had a great session with her last week. Here are a couple of favorites. The first is from our street series and the second is in studio.  Clifton is only about an hour from our studio.  We’d love to have more seniors from Clifton make the drive up.  We promise its worth the trip.

Cap and Gown Photos for High School Seniors

We get asked all the time if we still do the traditional graduation photos. Because we show so much location and fashion photography, I guess we overlook the fact that we still do a great Cap & Gown photo. If you want a Cap & gown photo as a part of your Senior Portrait experience, please just ask. We have most school cap & gown colors here, or you can bring your own.

Midlothian High School Senior Portraits- Callie

Meet Callie. She is one of our Senior Models this year. Callie is a fantastic soccer player, good student, and knows her way around in front of the camera. Here is a preview from one of our recent outdoor sessions. We don’t have many weekend session times open for September, so if you plan to make it in this month, please contact us soon to schedule a session.
