Wedding Ceremony: Royal Lane Baptist Church, Dallas, TX
Wedding Reception: Gleneagles Country Club, Plano, TX

Felicia and Peter’s wedding was at Royal Lane Baptist Church in Dallas, followed by their reception at Gleneagles Country Club in Plano. Felicia’s parents were married at Royal Lane Baptist, so the ceremony was especially meaningful. We took time after the ceremony to re-create a photo that her parents have hanging in their home, with a modern twist. When you see it in the gallery, you’ll recognize it. Felicia and Peter had so much love for each other and their families, and they made the day really easy for us. They had a noon wedding, so they decided to do a grand exit from the church. The photos are really pretty, full of life and laughter and color. So many times when couples choose to exit, all of the guests have already gone home. But the church send off is a good way to keep your guests involved in the celebration and your pictures will generally be better because of that. RLBC is a fantastic church, with high ceilings and a great balcony to shoot from. The bride and groom suites are spacious and the walk way between buildings makes a really interesting lighting pattern for photos. Gleneagles Country Club speaks for itself. The staff was so accommodating and the GIANT windows filled with daylight were a pleasure to photograph in. We normally don’t see daylight during wedding receptions, so this was a welcome change. Take a good look at the funny exploding bouquet toss and at the adorable ring bearer trying to blow out all of the candles on the guest tables. We also love the image of the bridal party made in the entry hall at GE. There are too many favorites to point out individually, so take a look for yourself…

Wedding Ceremony: Mary Immaculate Catholic Church , Carrollton, TX
Reception Site: Carrollton Plaza Arts Center, Carrollton, TX
Photographers: Chris Smith and Shana Woods, Ivey Photography
Hollie and David’s ceremony was spectacular in the Main Sanctuary at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Carrollton. Although the preparation rooms were small, we made the best of the tiny bits of window light given to us through the stained glass. We finished all of the prep work in a classic, rich, black and white to show off the detail in every expression. After the ceremony and a quick portrait with the bride and groom, we moved up the street to The Carrollton Plaza Arts Center. David and Hollie are HUGE Disney fans. In fact, David asked Hollie to marry him in a trip to Disney World. They themed their wedding reception after Alice in Wonderland, and as you’ll see in the photos, the Plaza Arts Center made a perfect backdrop for their Disney theme and we were there to catch all of the action. Enjoy.
The Texas Discovery Gardens is a beautiful venue for a wedding. The photography locations are endless, making it easily one of our favorite places to photograph a wedding in Dallas. Jennifer & Tim were married at The Texas Discovery Gardens on May 19, 2012. The event was planned by Yvette Audrain of Premier Special Events, who made the whole day fabulous. We started with Jen & the girls, moved on to Tim & the boys, followed by a few details shots of the room. Once the processional began, we used our laid back approach to capture the moments as they happened. Using longer lenses than most photographers, we were able to say concealed and out of the way of the guests so they could enjoy the wedding. Two photographers working in sync with each other makes it very easy to capture a variety of angles in a short window. While one person photographs from a wider view, the other goes closer with a telephoto lens. Our finished products is better because we constantly provide a new perspective on traditionally straightforward photographs. After the ceremony, we were able to steal a few moments with the couple for some portraits alone, and then we were whisked away to the reception. The colors were amazing in the room, and the patio was alive with guests as the party went on. Toasts, cake cutting and a bit of dancing were followed by a quick getaway with bubbles. Here are a few of our favorite images used in Jen & Tim’s amazing Flush Mount Signature Design Album. We look forward to bringing you an updated post featuring their Aluminum and leather covered album by Finao.
Ceremony: Brookhaven Country Club
Reception: Brookhaven Country Club
Floral and Decor: Donna Cannon Designs
Photographers: Shana Woods and Chris Smith, Ivey Photography
Ashley & Adam were married at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch. The ceremony was planned for the lawn outside, but the four inches of rain throughout the day put a damper on that. We improvised, used the overhangs and porches outdoors for some portrait work, and the ceremony was moved inside the club. The decor and lighting was perfect and the whole atmosphere was festive, in spite of the rain. Here are a few of our favorite images from the day.

Ceremony Location: Bella Donna Chapel, McKinney, TX
Reception Location: Stonebridge Ranch Country Club, McKinney, TX
Photographers: Chris Smith & Shana Woods, Ivey Photography, Midlothian, TX
Damon and Melissa were married at the Bella Donna Chapel in McKinney, TX. The chapel is an amazing venue for a wedding, and we are looking forward to being back there soon. The ceremony ended at sunset and we lost light just as we had to get the couple to the reception at Stonebridge Country Club. They were greeted by a couple hundred of their closest friends and family members. The music was great, the food was awesome, and the whole crowd really enjoyed the evening. Here are a few of our favorite images from the wedding day.
Real Weddings is a new feature on the Ivey Photography blog where we share answers to questions from our past couples. We hope the information is insightful and helps you with your wedding day decision making.

What was your favorite memory of your wedding?
Favorite memories included the teasing that went on between the bried and groom as we stood before the minister and the father/daughter dance at the reception when my dad almost lost his pants.
Why did you choose Ivey Photography to capture your big day?
We met Chris and Shana at a Bridal Show and their personality and photos stood out. They were very perosonable and down to earth. The pictures were vivid and showed off the personality of the couples. We got the impression they’d be easy to work with and photos were wonderful and we knew they’d do a great job.
If you could give one piece of advice to our future bride and grooms, what would it be?
Take time to enjoy your fiance and do what makes you guys happy. You’ll never please everyone and in the end you two are all that matter.
What would you have done differently? Something to help other brides plan on or plan differently.
The only thing I would have done differently was start doing what I wanted sooner and not trying to please everyone else.
What was the most important thing to you when planning your wedding? (Example: photography, flowers, venue, food, etc.) Was there a vendor that you would like to recommend to another couple?
I was focusing primarily on the reception since that’s were everyone would spend most of their time.
What did you love best about working with Ivey Photography?
Chris and everyone were so friendly and patient. They are great to work with and they have great ideas.
Do you have a favorite photograph that you would like to share with other couples?
Why is that photograph your favorite?
My favorite photograph is the one of my husband and myself during our quiet time just before the reception. In the photo we are sharing an embrace and you can see the Dallas Skyline in the background behind us.
We are thrilled to announce a new photography partnership with Aristide Event & Conference Center in Mansfield, TX. We will be one of only a handful of partnership vendors recommended by Aristide Event & Conference Center. Patina May and her staff have completely transformed Aristide into one of the premier wedding venues in North Texas and we are proud to offer exclusive wedding photography collections to their clients. We invite you to schedule a consultation with them or visit them at one of their monthly open house events. You’ll find they only support the BEST vendors in DFW, and we are proud to have made the “cut” with them. We look forward to photographing many of their upcoming weddings this year, just as we did with Leah & Marvin last summer. Take a look at the wedding album design we’ve created as a show piece in the Aristide Lobby.
